Abstract

1,171,678. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 13 May, 1968 [6 June, 1967; 31 Aug., 1967], Nos. 25966/67 and 39801/67. Heading H2E. A socket contact formed from a sheet-metal blank, comprises a crimping ferrule 17 and a channel-shaped receptacle 1 having portions 10, with flared ends 15, inclined towards the receptable base 4 and slots 3 defining L-shaped spring portions 2 spaced from and higher than a raised central base portion 6 which has a projection 7 to engage a recess in a tag contact (not shown) received between the portions 10 and the springs 2. Apertures 12 are provided in the channel wells to increase the resilience of the portions 10. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown), the apertures 12 are omitted and the raised base portion 6 is replaced by a tongue (18) which is integral with, and extends rearwardly and upwardly from, the receptacle base 4, and has a curved free end.
