Abstract

1,170,506. Garment hangers. S. E. SAMUELSSON. 22 Feb., 1967 [28 Feb., 1966], No. 8553/67. Heading A4U. In a skirt etc. hanger of the kind in which a skirt is suspended by tensioning by end members 8 urged by a spring 4 from a central tubular housing 8, movement of the end members is guided by a projection 12 in a slot 6 and, in the absence of a garment, is arrested by abutment of the projection 12 and the end 6<SP>1</SP> of the slot. The projection 12 is provided on or tongue formed by a slot 14 in the end member 8 which is preferably tabular. The projection 12 has an inclined face 13<SP>1</SP> which rides up the end 6<SP>1</SP> to flex the tongue inwardly against the spring end 5 to form a brake and preventing snapping off of the projection. In a modification the stem of the suspension hook 2 does not enter the housing 1 and a single spring 4 extends the length of the housing.
