Abstract
1,169,866. Washing machines. PHILCOFORD CORP. 5 Aug., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 37264/68. Heading D1A. An oscillatable washing machine agitator comprises a vertical shaft 17 carrying upper and lower series of vanes 21, 22, each vane extending radially in a vertical plane, the upper and lower vanes being connected in pairs by helical vane sections 23, the lower vanes being wider than the upper vanes which are wider than the vane sections. The washing- machine comprises a rotatable basket 12 and the agitator 13 mounted in a tub 11 and driven by a motor 14 through a belt and pulley 16 and a transmission 15. The lower edges of vanes 22 may be connected by skirt 24 all along their length, Fig. 3 or only; along part of their length in the flexible polypropylene agitator (113), Fig. 7 (not shown).
