[Also in Division C1] In a process for the preparation of spherical particles of anhydrous AlCl 3 , gaseous AlCl 3 is contacted with a seed layer of AlCl 3 crystals in a rotary vessel 1 which may be circular, oval, trigonal or polygonal in cross-section. The largest particles are withdrawn by means of a screw conveyor and the temperature of the vessel is regulated by means of a cooling jacket 2.
