Abstract
1,168,053. Stabilizing alkylidene bicycloheptenes. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 9 July, 1968, No. 32591/68. Heading C5E. Alkylidene bicycloheptenes are stabilized against oxidation by the incorporation therein of a minor amount of a C 1 -C 8 alkylcatechol, hydroquinone, a C 1 -C 8 alkyl substituted hydroquinone, or a C 1 -C 8 monoalkyl ether of hydroquinone. The stabilizers may be used in a concentration of 50-2500 p.p.m. by wt. Examples describe the stabilization of 5- ethylidenebicycio - [2,2,1] - hept - 2 - ene with 4 - tert. butylcatechol, hydroquinone and p-methoxyphenol.
