Abstract
1,167,963. Horizontal bar exercising device. CARR GYMNASIUM EQUIPMENT Ltd. 24 July, 1968 [24 April, 1967], No. 18851/67. Heading A6M. Metal tube gymnasium equipment comprising a pair of spaced metal tube uprights 1, 2, each having a series of spaced slots 4, a horizontal metal rod or tube 3, the ends of which can be inserted in the slots 4, transverse projections 5, 6 on the ends of the rod or tube 3 for passing through the slots 4, and a catch device angularly spaced from the transverse projection on an end of the rod or tube 3 which automatically engages in one of the slots 4 upon rotation of the horizontal metal rod or tube about its axis to bring the transverse projections 5, 6 out of alignment with the slots 4. The slots may be of inverted keyhole form. The catch device may be a manually releasable spring loaded plunger, secured on the outside of the rod or tube 3, as shown in figure 2, or on a plug mounted in the end of the tube 3. More than one horizontal element may be mounted on more than two vertical elements.
