In a zip fastener of the kind in which the chain elements 13, 14 are, when closed, completely covered by sealing strips 30 and 34 of rubber or the like, these stripseach have an outer liner 32 or 36 of textile material bonded to the rubber. The slider (not shown) of such a fastener embraces the sides-of the sealing strips, and the presence of the liner both reduces slider friction and avoids damage to the sealing material.
