A roof ventilator or window panel 10 is mounted at each end on pairs of telescopic struts 20 each having a compression spring 33 acting on a transverse pin 31 accommodated in aligned slots in the parts 21 and 23 of each strut. The protruding ends of the pin 31 engage notches 36 in fixed plates 29 to hold the struts in a number of positions corresponding to various desired positions of one or both ends of the ventilator.
