Abstract

1,166,241. Advancing mine roof supports. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 3 Jan., 1967 [4 Jan., 1966], No. 344/66. Heading E1P. An advancing mine roof support frame has at least one of its props 2 inclined relative to the vertical so that when the props 2, 3 jointly urge the roof member against the mine roof the resultant of the thrust is inclined at an angle of 5‹ to 15‹ to the vertical. In modified arrangements the inclined prop 3 above is replaced by a vertical prop or a pair of vertical props, see Figs. 2 and 3 of Prov. Drgs. (not shown).
