Abstract

1,163,201. Ground marker. SOIL FERTILITY Ltd. 8 Jan., 1968 [9 Jan., 1967; 26 April, 1967], Nos. 1148/67 and 19262/67. Headings AID and A1E. [Also in Divisions B1 and F1] The extent of land treated by an agricultural vehicle or machine is indicated by foam generated at the vehicle and discharged continuously or intermittently on the ground. The apparatus comprises a vessel (8, Fig. 1 not shown) containing detergent (9) into which a pipe (34) discharges, which may be derived from a compressor or compressed gas container or from the vehicle exhaust. Foam overflows through a preferably transparent discharge hose 38 terminating in a downwardly directed fitting 44, which has perforations 50 and is clamped as at 6 to e.g. a spray boom 4. The fitting discharges into a short length of pipe 42; intermittancy of discharge is increased by the provision of circumferential corrugations 52 and by increase in ratio of the diameter of the pipe 42 to that of the discharge hose 38. In treating standing crops the pipe 42 may be removed and the foam spattered over the crop with increased visibility. As described there are two discharge hoses 38 connected to a three-way valve (30).
