Abstract
1,162,864. Casting processes. HENRY WIGGIN & CO. Ltd. 22 Sept., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 43331/67. Heading B3F. [Also in Division C7] Molten Ni or Ni alloy is poured into an ingot mould containing a quantity of molten slag which moves up on the metal surface and forms a coating in the mould; the slag consists of, by weight:- 25-50% CaO 20-40% Al 2 O 3 5-20% MgO 3-10% Na 2 O 10-30% in all of one or more of CaF 2 , Na 3 AlF 6 and K 2 AlF 6 no more than 3% SiO 2 no more than 0.5% TiO 2 with the percentage of Al 2 O 3 not exceeding the percentage of CaO by more than 5. The cast alloys may be Ni/Cu, Ni/Cr, Ni/Cr/Fe and stainless steels containing 7% or more Ni.
