Abstract
1,161,796. Driving and withdrawing piles. P. W. TURNER. 13 Sept., 1967 [1 Sept., 1966; 13 April, 1967], Nos. 39040/66 and 16994/67. Heading E1H. A method of driving or extracting a pile A includes the steps of engaging opposite sides of the pile at a point along its length and between its ends with clamps B and then while the pile is so engaged, moving the clamps upwardly or downwardly to extract or drive the pile, then releasing the clamps from engagement with the pile and clamping the pile higher up if it is being driven, or lower down if it is being extracted, and including the step of imparting oscillatory movement to the clamps.
