Abstract
1,157,701. Agitating and aerating liquids. PASSAVANT-WERKE. 27 May, 1966 [29 May, 1965 (2); 13 July, 1965], No. 24042/66. Heading B1C, [Also in Division F2] A horizontail .rotor for aerating liquids (Figure 2) has a hollow shaft the diameter of which is or least 25% and preferably 30% - 40% of the rotor including agitator blades, which are affixed in circumferential rows. The angle between the blades of a row may be 30 alternate rows being circumferentially displaced by 15 (Fig. 9a). Each row after the second is angularly retarded or advanced by 2¢ in relation to the row next but one before, so that after six such 'retardations the blades in the 13th row will repeat the positions of those in the 2nd, and so on. The retardation may change into an advance providing a chevron arrangement of blades (Figs. 9 and; 9a). The blades may also be twisted by a small angular amount. Such notors may be about 1 m diameter and up to 10 m long and may be arranged in pairs driven in the same or opposite directions by a motor arranged between them (Fig..1 not shown, and Fig. 9); in the latter case they may .be mounted over circulation basins (62-65, Fig. 10, not shown) .between inlet and outlet channels (60, 61). Alternatively the driving mechanism may be mounted on a central partition in an aeration basin (Fig. 1, not shown .and Fig 9), on a shelf at the side of. the basin (Fig 8 not shown) or under a bridge across the basin (Fig. -.3, not shown) Connection between the gearbox and the rotor shaft may be made by a flexible coupling (Figs. 1, 3 not shown) The apparatus may be assisted by the injection. of compressed air (77, Fig. 8).
