Abstract

1,153,429. Crank-shafts. DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. 5 July, 1966 [8 July, 1965], No. 28989/65. Heading F2U. In an I.C. engine crank-shaft assembly, lubricant is supplied to each main journal through a duct 7 and part-circumferential (e.g. more than 180 degrees long) groove 5, in the bearing housing 8, which is in constant communication with one or other end of a diametral passage 4 in the main journal 1, the passage 4 being positioned such that lubricant will be supplied through the passage to the lower parts of the bearing immediately before these parts become subjected to maximum load.
