Abstract

1,153,387. Drying web material. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. 27 April, 1967 [9 June, 1966], No. 19541/67. Heading F4G. In apparatus for drying a paper web 1 passing in sinuous path about heated drier cylinder 2 and held in contact therewith by endless drier fabrics 3, 4 passing over guide rolls 5, the area bounded by web, cylinder and roll is ventilated by hot air projected from nozzles 7, 8 in ducts 6 mounted between each pair of cylinders in a row. The air is blown substantially perpendicularly to the drier fabric across its width from the nozzles, each nozzle 7 being located at a point where the fabric is on the cylinder and each nozzle 8 being lccated where the fabric has left the cylinder but before it reaches the roll 5. In a modification, the duct 6 is divided into two chambers, and a third nozzle is mounted therein to blow air obliquely on to the drier fabric in the direction of travel of the fabric whilst it is on the next succeeding cylinder of the row.
