Abstract
1,151,648. Coating with glass-metal composition. NATIONAL LEAD CO. 9 Oct., 1967 [17 Oct., 1966], No. 46040/67. Heading C1M. [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A solderable electrode is formed on a ceramic by coating with a powder mixture of Ag and at least one metal from the group Sn, Sb, Cd, Zn and Al, a low melting frit and a fugitive vehicle and sintering the coating. The Ag forms at least 50% of the metal content and the total metal to frit ratio is between 2: 1 to 15: 1. The frit may be 85% PbO-15% B 2 O 3 or 80% Bi 2 O 3 -15À8% PbO-2À1% B 2 O 3 -2À1% SiO 2 . The vehicle may be ethyl cellulose in glycol and sintering takes place at 370-680‹ C. The ceramic may be N-type semi-conductor such as barium titanate or P-type lanthanum chromate or iron oxide containing TiO 2 or sintered TiO 2 containing Nb 2 O 5 . The mixture is brushed or sprayed on to the ceramic in the required pattern.
