Abstract
1,149,303. Dielectric composition. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 2 Feb. 1967 [4 Feb., 1966], No. 5049/67. Heading C1M. A capacitor is formed from a dielectric powder composition containing (A) a crystalline inorganic material having a dielectric constant of at least 50; (B) a glass and (C) an optional compound not exceeding 100% by weight of (B) and being one or more of Bi 2 O 3 , PbO, CdO and WO 3 (in addition to any such oxide present in (B). Component (A) forms 25-99À5% and component (B) from 0À5-75% of the total composition weight. The glass (B) contains (a) 75-95% of at least one of Bi 2 O 3 , PbO, CdO and WO 3 ; (b) 1À5-25% of a glass forming oxide consisting of at least one of SiO 2 , B 2 O 3 , P 2 O 5 , GeO 2 and As 2 O 3 and (c) not more than 12% of any other glass-forming constituent. (A) may comprise: titanates of Ba, Pb, Sr, Cd, Bi and Mg; zirconate of Pb; niobates of Cd or Pb or of lead-bismuth. It is preferably the titanate of bismuth. Many specific compositions are disclosed for the glass in particular in the ranges Bi 2 O 3 72-82; B 2 O 3 3À5; SiO 2 3À5; Pb 0-11 and additions (see Table I (not reproduced)). Metallizing.-Electrodes may be applied to the dielectric body during or after firing and consist of metal mixtures with a glass binder. Silver or an admixture of gold/platinum may be used for this purpose.
