Abstract

[Also in Division F1] An aerosol fluid dispenser comprises a release valve and a measuring chamber 2a which is adjustable in volume to enable the volume of fluid discharged at each operation to be predetermined. The chamber 2a is formed in a housing 2 which is slidable on a gasket member 7 clamped to an aerosol container 1 by means of a cap 6. The housing 2 may be raised or lowered by means of a lever, cam or screw device in order to vary the capacity of a reservoir 2c in communication with the chamber 2a. A valve (4, Fig. 1) is slidably mounted in the chamber and is arranged normally to allow the reservoir 2c and measuring chamber to fill with fluid. Upon depression of the valve 4 a hole (11) therein is moved within the chamber 2a thereby allowing the fluid to be dispensed. In a modification the dispenser may be a separate unit adapted to be fitted to the valve of a normal aerosol container. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the housing 2 is formed with a number of reservoirs each having a different capacity and each communicating with the chamber 2a through a port 25, all the reservoirs normally being filled. To discharge a selected reservoir the valve 4 is rotated to bring hole 11 into alignment with an outlet port 26 in the selected reservoir and then by depressing the valve the fluid is dispensed.
