Abstract
1,150,667. Hydraulic presses. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. 12 Dec., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 55569/66. Heading B5F. [Also in Division F1] Synchronized pistons 1, 2, Fig. 2, for lowering a press beam 5 are supplied through separate lines 15, 16 each having a by-pass line 29, 30 provided with a spill control valve 31, 32 controlled by means responsive to deviation from synchronization whereby said synchronization is restored, and upstream of each spill control valve 31, 32 is a pilot control valve 64a, 64 having a discharge outlet responsive to flow through the spill valve 31, 32 above a predetermined value. Said deviation responsive means comprises a rib 37 on the beam 5 which when the latter becomes tilted, due to say piston 2 advancing faster than piston 1, and opens spill valve 32 and closes spill valve 31. Each bypass line 29, 30 also includes a solenoid operated dump valve 41, 42 upstream of the spill valves and which when the beam operates limit switches 51, 52 are suddenly opened to connect the associated branch line and hence supply line to reservoir 11 and thereby arrest motion of the associated piston. Each discharge valve 64a, 64, e.g. valve 64, Fig. 3, comprises a spring- biased spool 71 having a peripheral groove 73, lateral bores 75 and an axial bore 74 provided with an orifice 76 which when the piston 63 of the main spill valve is moved to the open piston results in spool 71 being moved to the right and by-pass line 30 being connected through groove 73 to reservoir 11. The housing of the discharge valve 64 may also include a relief valve 78. Downward movement of pistons 1, 2, is initiated by moving coupled solenoid spool valves 17, 18 in lines 15, 16 to the left.
