Abstract

1,150,050. Baling machines. GEBR. CLAAS. 18 Jan., 1968 [4 Feb., 1967], No. 2734/68. Heading B5F. [Also in Division A2] Apparatus for rolling up loose harvested material, e.g. hay, under pressure, comprises a feeder arranged to have a stretching action and to deliver the material at a speed higher than that at which it receives it. In one example, Fig. 2, the apparatus comprises a pick-up drum 17, conveyer belts 18-21, conical rollers 22 and a device 24 for cutting up a rolled-up bundle 23. The conveyer belts 20, 21 are driven faster than the belts 18, 19 which may be driven faster than the pick-up drum 17. In a second example, Fig. 3, the feeder includes a receiving roller 26, a table 27 and a series of rollers 28-31 for increasing the speed of material fed to the rolling-up device 13. In Fig. 4 (not shown) pairs of rollers (33, 34, 35) are used while in Fig. 5 (not shown) a pair of rollers (38) deliver the material to a system (39) of conveyer belts and/or chains covered with pins and operating at a higher speed than the rollers (38). The apparatus may be incorporated with a tractor (10), Fig. 1 (not shown). Alternatively the apparatus may be stationary and supplied by a charging device.
