Abstract

1,149,771. Polyurethanes ELASTOMER A.G. 17 Aug., 1966 [30 Aug., 1965], No. 36825/66. Heading C3R. Polyurethane elastomers are prepared by reacting in a single stage, a hydroxylpolycaprolactone prepared by reacting an epsiloncaprolactone and a glycol and having a M.W. between 1000 and 3000, a glycol of the formula HO-(CH 2 ) n -(O) m -R-(O) m -(CH 2 ) n -OH wherein R is a phenylene or naphthylene radical, n is an integer from 1 to 12 and m is 0 or 1, and 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, or a homologue or substitution product thereof. The diisocyanate may be diphenylmethane-4,4<SP>1</SP>- diisocyanate itself or diphenyl-dimethylmethane- 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate or diaminophenyl methane- 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate. In examples the glycol used is hydroquinone diethylene glycol ether. Trimethylolpropane may also be added to the reaction mixture.
