Abstract

1,145,875. Laminates. COLAMCO Inc. 20 April, 1966, No. 17232/66. Heading B5N. A method of forming a laminated fabric having a first layer of cover material and a second layer of foamed plastics filler material, e.g. polyurethane, comprises applying a film of anhydrous polyurethane foam-forming materials to either the first or the second layer, bringing the other layer into contact with the film, and introducing moisture to the anhydrous film sufficient to cause formation of a layer of polyurethane foam from the foam-forming film. In a preferred embodiment, heat and pressure are applied to the first layer, the heat being sufficient to cure the polyurethane material and the pressure being in a predetermined pattern on the outer surface of the first layer and sufficient to depress the second layer in a desired pattern of depressions, optionally with a third layer bonded by a film of anhydrous polyurethane foam-forming material to the surface of the second layer remote from the first layer, wherein portions of the first layer are depressed through the second layer into contact with the third layer. The cover material may be polyvinyl chloride, fabric supported polyvinylchloride, fabric or plywood.
