1,145,623. Pharmaceutical compositions. E. C. BARTON-WRIGHT. 9 March, 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 10376/66. Heading A5B. A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of osteo- and rheumatoid-arthritis consists essentially of the active ingredients dpantothenic acid or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof e.g. the Na or Ca salts, and cysteine or cystine (or a physiologically acceptable salt of either, e.g. the hydrochloride). Modified compositions may also contain queen bee substance ("royal jelly"), ethyl n-heptyloxyacetate or 10-hydroxy-#<SP>2</SP>-decenoic acid or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof. The compositions may be administered orally in the form of tablets, capsules or dragees which may be enteric coated, parenterally from dry ampoules and from ampoules and multidose flasks containing pyrogen-free water, aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone or arachis oil as a carrier, and rectally as suppositories.
