Abstract
1,143,615. Electric distribution systems; two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 21 July, 1967 [26 July, 1966], No. 33572/66. Headings H2C and H2E. In an electrical wiring system a plastics insulating sheath for insulated conductors 1 is made in sections 2, 3, 4 and the exposed conductors between the sections are fitted with connectors 8 which may be connected to respective socket contacts (11, Fig. 6, not shown). Each sheath section may be formed as a skirting section having a conduit portion on its rear face (Fig. 2, not shown) or as an open seamed conduit (6, Fig. 3, not shown). The connector 8 (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) comprises a tubular sleeve portion (8) embracing the conductor insulation and an integral ferrule (9) crimped to the exposed core of the conductor, and annular shoulders (10) at each end of sleeve (8) engage opposite ends of a sleeve receiving receptacle. Groups of connectors may be contained in an insulating and spacing device (15, Fig. 7, not shown) comprising a cavitied block for receiving the connectors, the block being closed by a hinged lid.
