Abstract

1,140,363. Haymaking machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 2 Feb., 1966 [29 Nov., 1965; 13 Dec., 1965], No. 46164/66. Divided out of 1,140,362. Heading A1F. A rake-wheel type haymaking machine comprises a main frame-member 82 with rake-wheel-carrying beams 91, 92, 93 mounted on each side of it, the beams 91, 93 on opposite sides of the frame-member being connected to it and to each other by interconnected pivoted links 94 which enable the beams to move bodily about the axis of the member 82 against the loading of springs 112. The frame-member is extended by a cranked portion 84 so that it is shaped as a figure-7 in plan and is supported by a castor-wheel 86, 89 at each corner, the castor 89 at the end of the cranked portion being united with a drawbar 128 and the other castors having lockable swivel-axes. Each beam 92, 93 has two integral stub-shafts 98 terminating in vertical bearings 99 which receive the cranked ends of axles carrying the rakewheels 107. The beam 91 has similar stub-shafts 108 which receive the rakewheels removed from the beam 93, for swath-turning. For tedding, all the rakewheels are carried by the beams 92, 93 but the rake-wheel planes are swung into the dotted positions. The links 94 are pivoted to lugs 96 carried by the member 82 and are connected together by a pin and slot 113, 114 so as to rise and fall together under the action of a pivoted lever 115 terminating in a cross-piece 119 underlying the links 94 attached to the beams 92, 93, the lever being operable remotely, through a cable 121. In a modification (Fig. 8, not shown) the arms 108 do not terminate in bearings but have horizontal bores to receive the ends of straight stub-axles which can carry the removed rake-wheels. In this construction the lifting lever is arranged to pass over-centre so that the system is self-sustaining with the beams either in a raised or a lowered position, the latter being adjustable by a screw-threaded stop on the frame-member.
