Abstract

1,140,033. Anchoring nuts. TAPPEX THREAD INSERTS Ltd. 26 Jan., 1966 [27 Jan., 1965], No. 3686/65. Heading F2H. An anchor nut comprises an elongated body 1 having a pair of wings 3 extending therefrom, by means of which the nut can be held and inserted through a slot 10 in a member 11, and rotated to align the end portions 9 behind the member adjacent the slot, before the wings are bent by thumb or finger pressure against the front of the member. The wings are formed from a plate 5 welded to the face 4 of the nut at 10. In Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown) the wings (23) are formed separately and welded to the sides of the nut. In Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) a plate nut is formed integrally with the wings, the nut having a screw-threaded or plain bore. The nut may have more than one bore. It can be moulded from plastics, e.g. nylon. The face of the nut which abuts the back of the member 11 may be serrated.
