Abstract
1,038,014. Lamps. LAMP MANUFACTUR. ING & RAILWAY SUPPLIES Ltd. March 23, 1965 [March 23, 1964], No. 12199/64. Heading F4R. A flashing electric rear lamp for trains or other vehicles comprises a metal casing having a lower part 32 containing batteries and an upper part 31 containing a bulb 41, a reflector 40 and a red lens 43, a transistorized flasher unit 38 which is coupled to a manually operated switch 37 being arranged to pass current intermittently to the bulb. The casing parts 31, 32 are hinged together at 33 and fastened at 45, and the part 32 carries a mounting bracket 34 positioned so that the lamp is free standing. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 1-3, not shown) the casing parts are in one piece and the lower part has a removable base on which the batteries stand. The lamp is provided with a carrying handle comprising a bent steel rod slidably engaged in tubular guides at each side of the upper casing part.
