Abstract

1,036,100. Cloth-laying apparatus. PHILLIPS & SONS (MANCHESTER) Ltd. July 1, 1965 [April 2, 1964], No. 13733/64. Heading B4B. A cloth lay machine comprises a cutting disc C, Fig. 1, mounted on a transversely-reciprocable bracket C<SP>1</SP> which has a base member C<SP>1</SP> engaging a slot in a plate B over which the cloth passes, the slotted plate B being progressively raised as the height of the lay increases. The motor C for driving the disc is mounted on the bracket which is reciprocated by a chain D by means of a handle or further motor. The ends of the slotted plate are carried on end plates D<SP>1</SP> at each side of the table, mounted on pillars d<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2 (not shown), raised and lowered by a chain D<SP>2</SP> passing over a sprocket d<SP>2</SP> and operated by a hand wheel d<SP>4</SP>, or alternatively by a motor. A rod d<SP>6</SP> transmits movement of the pillar d<SP>1</SP> to a bracket d<SP>5</SP> on the pillar at the opposite side of the table.
