Abstract
1,035,539. Thread rolling. J. HUBL. Oct. 5, 1964 [Oct. 9, 1963], No. 40489/64. Heading B3M. A thread rolling machine includes three aligned rolls 2, 3 and 4 of the same size and forming two roll passes into which are fed work blanks W from opposite sides. To equalize wear on the rolls the central roll 2 is driven at twice the speed of the outer ones and has a thread pitch of half their value. The outer rolls are adjustable on slides 7 and 10 to accommodate blanks of different diameters. The blank feeding devices may be designed to slip if a blank jams during rolling; as shown, either a sprocket 22 driven by a chain 21 through a friction clutch is used, or a conveyor belt 23 can be urged against the blanks by means of a spring-loaded bar 25 and a fixed bar 24.
