Abstract

1,034,163. Vehicle suspensions. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. May 21, 1965 [July 7, 1964], No. 27924/64. Heading B7D. In a vehicle pneumatic suspension wherein, on each side of the vehicle, a pair of bellows 2 is connected to a surge tank 3 which is connected to a levelling valve 4, the surge tanks 3 are interconnected by a conduit 5 which incorporates a valve block 6. The valve block 6 has passages 7, 8 closed, respectively, by valves 9, 10 acted upon by springs 11, 12 so that, beyond a certain pressure difference determined by the pressures of the springs 11, 12, which may be adjustable, air from the tank at a higher pressure will flow to the tank at a lower pressure. Manually-releasable latch means may be provided to hold either valve in an open position.
