Abstract

1,032,350. Junction pieces. HEPWORTH IRON CO. Ltd. April 30, 1965, No. 18198/65. Heading F2G. A pipe junction for use with plain-ended clayware pipe-lengths is moulded in slightly resilient synthetic plastic material and comprises integral and communicating main and branch pipes 1, 2 forming a junction portion 3 each end of which has a lesser wall thickness than the junction portion and is separated therefrom by inwardly projecting means 5 defining the inner end of a pipe receiving integral socket 6. The means 5 may comprise one or more projections, an annular flange or a shoulder formed between the junction portion and the socket, the former being of smaller inner diameter than the latter (Figs. 6, 7, not shown). The end of the pipe to be inserted in the socket may be tapered or have a chamfered end or the socket may be tapered (Figs. 4, 5, not shown). The socket may be provided adjacent its outer end with a corrugation to house in sealing ring for co-operation with a pipe-length (Figs. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, not shown). The corrugations may have a greater wall thickness than the remainder of the socket or an annular stiffening rib may be provided about its outer circumference (Figs. 13, 14, 15, not shown).
