Abstract
The invention comprises water-insoluble monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:1029226/C4-C5/1> wherein A is a benzene residue, R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, R2 is a cyanoalkoxyalkyl group, R3 is an alkoxycarbonylalkyl or cyanoalkyl group and X is an aliphatic acylamino group. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized aminobenzene with an appropriate N,N-disubstituted-3-acylamine-anilino (see Division C2). The dyes may be used to colour synthetic fibres, particularly polyester fibres, in orange to violet shades.ALSO:3 - Acetylamino - N - (b - cyanoethoxyethyl) N-b -cyanoethylaniline is prepared by heating 3-aminoacetanilide with chloroethyl cyanoethyl ether in alkaline medium and subsequently treating the monoalkylation product with acrylonitrile in an autoclave.
