Abstract
1,028,189. Suppressing currents in cable sheaths. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Aug. 19, 1963 [Aug. 22, 1962], No. 32792/63. Heading H2H. In a known arrangement of connecting singlephase cable sheaths to earth, or in multiphase systems to other cable sheaths in a crossbanded arrangement, through saturable inductors to limit induced voltages and currents, the inductors are shunted by non-linear resistors which increase their conductivity temporarily under transient conditions. In the Figure, one or both ends of the sheath are connected to earth or a neutral wire. In a 3-phase arrangement (Fig. 3, not shown), the sheaths are crossbanded and adjacent sheath terminations are connected through the parallel inductiveresistive arrangement Z.
