Abstract
1,026,963. Scraping carcases. P. AMBILL. May 16, 1963 [May 17, 1962; April 10, 1963], No. 19577/63. No. 19577/63. Heading A2U. In a machine for scraping carcases, e.g. of pigs, the carcases are suspended from a track V and by means of a rack and pinion device 26<SP>1</SP>, 27 are rotated as they are moved along so that all sides are presented to a first scraping action, arrow F, Fig. 2, and then to a second, shorter, but more deeply penetrating scraping action, arrow F<SP>1</SP>. Flexible scraper blades 23 Fig. 4, flanked on one side by resilient, e.g. rubber, support elements 24 and on the other by a curved support guide 22, are secured, e.g. as by bolts 25, to support bars 20 mounted on and extending between chains C, C 1 , C 2 driven by pinions 11, 12, 13, 14 on rotary shafts 7, 8, 9, 10 mounted in pairs of bearings 3, 4, 5, 6 respectively, bearings 3 and 5 being adjustable. The shaft 9 carries a pully 19 driven by a chain 18 through reduction gearing 17 from a motor 16 resting on a support bracket 15. An alternative form of apparatus is described (Figs. 5, 6, 7, not shown) wherein two separate sets of scraping devices are arranged side-by-side and produce the same two-part scraping action, the track V in this case being a straight run.
