Abstract

A false-twisting device comprises a cylindrical, friction-twisting body 1 rotation of which in bearings 2 and 3 within a hollow casing 8 is effected solely by the drawing-off of the running yarn. The approaching yarn 15 is led along a spiral groove 12 (or a guide comb or wire) so that it bears on the peripheries of annular fins 7 and is frictionally twisted by rotation thereof. At the upper part of the casing the yarn is withdrawn from the groove 12, wound with at least one turn 16 around a neck 5 of the body 1 so as to maintain a continuous friction drive therefor, and the departing yarn 17 is drawn-off radially.
