Abstract

1,024,979. Container closures. VAN LEER INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 4, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963], No. 34927/63. Heading B8T. A container closure comprises a neck 12 having interrupted screw threads 18 and a plug 19, Fig. 2, including a flange portion 20 and a shank portion 21 having screw threads 22 and a groove 23 housing a gasket 24 engageable with a portion 25 of said neck. The neck may be further sealed by a cap 26, Fig. 3, whose lower edge 28 is crimped under a bead 17 on the neck and which has perforated lugs 30 corresponding with perforated lugs 32 on a ring 31 around the neck for the threading of a wire. The neck 12 is either mounted on the container wall 11 as shown or is integral with it. The plug shank may be provided with a cylindrical portion between its screwthreads and the groove, see Fig. 7 (not shown). The neck may be polygonal in section, as described in Specification 860,625, or it may comprise a plurality of separate tongues, as described in Specification 980,084.
