Abstract

1,023,171. Packaging crackers; boxes. TOM SMITH & CO. Ltd. Jan. 11, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1962], No. 1098/62. Headings B8C and B8P. A method of packaging crackers comprises placing the crackers side by side in a box 16 in each opposite side of which there are two slits 17, 18 extending inwardly from the top edge. The slits are slightly inclined so that their inner ends are closer together than their outer ends and are in line with the waists 14, 15 of the crackers 10. A loop 25 of material is inserted in the four slits forming two spans across the width of the box close to the waists 14, 15. The loop can be a rubber band, a thread pre-knotted by a permanent or slip knot or a thread which is knotted after insertion in the slits.
