Abstract
1,022,085. Chain couplings. Y. THELAN. Feb. 28, 1964 [March 9, 1963; July 31, 1963], No. 8541/64. Heading B8A. A chain coupling link 4 consists of two different diameter loops and an intermediate waisted portion so that an oval link chain may be passed into the larger loop 4a, Fig. 4, one of its links 5b slid through the waisted portion and the adjacent link 5a made to rest on the smaller loop so that when the chain is pulled along the axis V-V it will be held by the coupling link. Fitted on the narrower loop may be a pair of curved rigid prongs 8 (Fig. 6, not shown) for embracing the link 6a or a straight flexible element 14, Fig. 9, which wedges under it. The two loops of the coupling link may be in perpendicular planes, and in one such construction (Fig. 14) two coupling links are fitted backto-back as an adjustable chain tensioning coupling (see Division F2).
