Abstract

A cradle-arrangement for double-apron drafting-apparatus comprises an element inside an apron to guide and clear it of lint and having a nose for reversing the apron, a surface supporting and guiding the inside of the fibre-engaging run of the apron, and side-walls, and a second element inside a cooperating apron, the two elements being connected by side ears on one or both elements. Each element comprises a block shaped to sub against and clear a roll over which the apron passes; the elements are supported entirely by the aprons which in turn are supported by the rolls. The two elements may be connected by (a) a pin passing through holes in integral or other ears of the upper element and bores in the two elements, a choice of apertures permitting adjustment of the spacing between the two aprons, (b) lugs depending from the side-walls of the upper element into recesses in the lower elements, or (c) internal recesses in ears of the upper element engaging detents in the lower element, guiding and positioning grooves being provided. Side shoulders 29g, (Fig. 3 not shown) may be provided to help centre the parts, while a chamfer 29i allows for abrupt variations in fibre-thickness. When dual-boss upper rollers are provided on a central support-arm, a single pin is provided to connect the associated pairs of elements and it may have a central bend engaged by an anchor-member of the weighting system, Fig. 7 (not shown.)
