Abstract

1,020,576. Rear-view mirrors. L. BROWNBRIDGE. March 29, 1963 [Jan. 5, 1962], No. 559/62. Heading B7J. An exterior driving mirror 1, Fig. 1, is provided with deflector means 4, 5 for directing a current of air over the mirror surface to maintain the latter free from rain drops. The deflector comprises an angled plate having lugs 6 mounted by screws 8 on the mirror backing plate 3, the limb 4 of the plate being spaced above the top rim 2 of the mirror to form an air inlet slot and the deflector limb 5 being spaced from the mirror surface and projecting downwardly. An arcuate angled member may be used with a circular mirror. If desired the deflector means may be integral with the mirror frame 2, 3. Instead of a single slot and a single deflecting surface 5 there may be a plurality of slots and surfaces.
