Abstract

1,020,399. Spring upholstery; tensioning devices. P. A. RENTROP A.G. Jan. 14, 1965 [Jan. 17, 1964], No. 1617/65. Heading A4M. The curvature of a seat back-rest is adjusted by altering the sag of an adjustment spring 8 which acts on the load carrying springs 3 of the back-rest. Spring 8 is mounted on two pivotal levers 4, 5 pivoted at 6, 7 on a cross-piece 2 of the back-rest frame. Turning the knob 4 causes axial displacement of a slide member 9 to effect through pins 12 and guide slots 13 a pivotal movement of lever 4. Displacement of slide member 9 also causes pivotal movement of a lever 17 which results through a rod 18 in a pivotal movement of lever 5 in such a manner that the two levers 4, 5 are rotated in opposite senses to adjust the sag of spring 8. Spring 8 may be a leaf spring or a resilient band or strap.
