Abstract

1,090,770. Adjustable seats. LEVI CLEWS. Jan. 5, 1966 [Jan. 30, 1965], No. 4200/65. Heading A4J. [Also in Division E2] The back rest of a vehicle seat is locked against angular adjustment by the interengagement of teeth 21, on discs 19 and 20, rotatably fast with frame members 14 and 15. On turning rod 13, against the action of torsion spring 28, the discs 19, 20 are sprung apart by coil spring 25, while the heads of rivets 23 ride on cam surfaces 27. On releasing rod 13, the torsion spring 28 rotates cam surfaces 27 in the reverse direction, thus urging the rivets 23 axially to re-mesh the teeth 21. The torsion springs urge the back rest forwardly.
