Abstract

1,020,394. Air preheaters for boilers. DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. Jan. 18, 1964 [Jan. 24, 1964], No. 3169/64. Headings F4A and F4B] First and second air pre-heaters connected in series pass through a boiler or water heater of the firetube type with their axes parallel to the boiler axis and comprise air tubes 5, 8 in flue tubes 2, 9, respectively. Products of combustion from the boiler flue 16 pass through pipes 17 to a smoke box 14, then over the air tubes 8 to a smoke box 15, through pipes 18 to a smoke box 3 and then over the air tubes 5 to the chimney 4. Air enters the tubes 5 adjacent the chimney and after passing through the tubes 5 is led by two pipes 6 to the tubes 8, which are arranged to pass through the boiler at each side of the flue 16, and issues from the other ends of these tubes to the combustion space.
