Abstract

1,019,591. Textile treating apparatus. SPOONER DRYER & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. April 27, 1962 [Jan. 28,1961], No. 3359/61. Heading D1L. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for heat treating, textile or synthetic material in strip or web form 64 comprises nozzles 62 directing streams'of heated air thereonto, the majority of the air after impingement being recirculated via heaters 68, and a small quantity which is exhausted at 70 is made-up by air passing through a filter 72, fan 74 and distributing valves 78 in a duct 76 to headers 80 having injectors 82. The injectors terminate in the mouths of mixing pipes 84 so as to induce the recirculated air to flow into the pipes 84 to mix with the fresh air heated by a heater 86. In a modification the heaters omitted from within the heater casing and the headers are supplied with exhaust gases from a gas turbine arrangement comprising a compressor, turbine and combustion chamber, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). In a further modification Figs, 4, 5 not shown the mixing tubes deliver the heated gaseous medium into a lower pressure chamber from which it is directed through apertures in a lower plate on to the material therebelow.
