Abstract
1,018,525. Making heat exchangers; corregating. SOC. DE FINISSAGE DE PRODUITS METALLURGIQUES. April 1, 1964 [April 13, 1963], No. 13355/64. Headings B3A and B3E. [Also in Division F4] A heat radiator panel comprises the assembly of two steel sheets A and B which are blanked and pressed out to form therebetween two horizontal longitudinal manifolds a and b interconnected by a series of vertical passageways 4, the manifold a being connected to a supply pipe of a heating circuit and the manifold b to a return pipe. As shown the manifolds are formed in the back panel B which is also formed with vertical grooves 10, separated by flat portions 17, and with inlet and outlet apertures to which screw-threaded bushings 1 and 2 are welded. The passageways 4 in panel A are separated by plane portions 5 which are spot welded to the portions 17, Fig. 2 (not shown). The mating edges of the sheets are seam welded together and the corners 18 cropped round. Mounting tabs 19 are welded to two successive ribs formed by the grooves 10. Since the grooves 10 are too deep to permit their formation in one press operation without splitting or bursting of the metal they may be formed in successive press operations by three punches of successively increasing depth.
