1,017,160. Electric heating mats. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Nov. 27, 1964 [Aug. 29, 1963], No. 34286/63. Heading H5H. A heating mat for burying, e.g. in a roadway, comprises a textile sheet similar to rug canvas for making knotted rugs, with a heating cable stitched to it at intervals or secured by a coldsetting resin adhesive. The textile sheet may be sized if necessary to provide the requisite stiffness to prevent cockling. A sandwich construction with two sheets may be used. The mat may be made on a drum with pins to locate the heating cable pending stitching.
