[Also in Division F2] Meat balls are stripped from a forming and ejecting mechanism on to a conveyer which delivers them into a can detained at the delivery end of the conveyer until it has received a predetermined number of meat balls. In the form shown, meat ball mixture 25 from a casing 20 (see Figs. 5, 9) is forced into pockets 17 arranged in three rows in a rotating cylinder. Pistons 18 moved radially by a fixed cam 31 force the meat balls out of the pockets from which they are stripped by adjustable driven rollers 38, 39 on to a conveyer 40 from which they are placed in cans. The size of the meat balls may be adjusted by movement of the idler roller 26 on which the inner ends of pistons 18 ride. The delivery end of the conveyer 40 may be raised or lowered by adjustment of the yoke 76. Cans 83 are delivered by gravity down a shoot 84 to a detent mechanism 85 operated by an electromagnet to hold each can long enough to receive either two or three rows of meat balls, according to which of two timing switches has been selected to control the electromagnet. The timing switches are controlled by corresponding cams rotating at different speeds, and the moment at which the detent is released can be adjusted by axial movement of the operative cam (see Division F2). The filled cans are deposited in upright position on an off-take conveyer 86 (Fig. 1).
