The shoots can be emptied into funnel 14 one after another. The upstream ends of the walls (15, 16) are disposed such that alternative ones of said ends are at a greater distance from the end of the table 3 at which the funnel 2 is located than the other wall ends, to ensure that all the channels on table 3 receive objects from funnel 2. Object level control means in the form of a vane (not shown) is located between the funnel 2 and the channels to prevent objects being fed into the channels in double layers. The walls (15, 16) may be attached to a cover (not shown) which is located over the table 3.
