Abstract

1,014,475. Reinforced panel joints. F. E. HOLMES. Jan. 15, 1963 [Jan. 15, 1962], No. 1445/62. Heading E1B. Prefabricated panels 1 are provided with at least one obliquely positioned reinforcing bar 2 which protrudes from an edge or a ride to fit within a corresponding recess in an adjacent panel. The bars 2 are preferably of square section and of a steel harder than used as a lining for the corresponding recess to allow dirt and air clearance on assembly and provide for misalignment by the biting of the square corners into the softer tube. A waterproof joint between panels is obtained by rebates and mastic jointing. For corner work the recesses may be formed in a side of the panel. Panels may be used for interior or exterior walling or for embankment walling or piling and are preferably of concrete, lightweight concrete or wood wool slabs. When used as cladding panels the bar projects from the back of the panel at an acute angle to engage recesses provided in the structure to be clad.
