Abstract
1,013,795. Automatic regulation. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. Oct. 16, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1961], No. 39152/62. Heading G3X. In a regulating system for deriving a constant value of voltage or current to be applied to a fixed load, a direct current source 10 feeds a first stage comprising a resistor 14 in series with a Zener diode 16 and the voltage across the Zener diode is applied to a second stage comprising a bridge network. The bridge network is formed of resistive arms 22, 24, 26 and a Zener diode 20, and the voltage between points 28 is applied to a third stage comprising a resistor 30 and a Zener diode 32. The load 34 is connected across the Zener diode 32 and it is stated that a function of the third stage is to act as a buffer to preserve the regulating characteristics of the second stage. It is stated that the regulation of the circuit can be improved by enclosing Zener diodes 20, 32 in a constant temperature oven.
